Melamine tannin nanosheet loading on black phosphorus towards enhancing its thermal safety, catalytic smoke and toxicity suppression performances

Black phosphorus (BP) was limited in practical application due to its instability in the air and low compatibility with polymers. In addition, the lack of smoke suppression of BP made it difficult to reduce the harm of smoke and toxic gas in fire. The functional BP nanosheets ([email protected]) were prepared by combining the smoke suppression mechanism of cobalt ions with the oxidation resistance mechanism of melamine tannin nanosheets. Excellent fire safety was clearly demonstrated by the effective combination of [email protected] and epoxy (EP), with 63.5% reduction in total heat release (THR), 18.1% reduction in total smoke production (TSP) and 19.5% reduction in total carbon monoxide. Therefore, this study provided a feasible solution for loading high-valence metal compounds on the surface of BP and a unique thinking for the preparation of EP composites with high comprehensive performances.
