Boron nitride-Au (Ag) loaded eggshell membrane with enhanced photothermal property

Eggshell membrane (ESM) has a unique three-dimensional (3D) interwoven fibrous structure and can provide a unique supporting platform for functional nanoparticles. This work reports a novel strategy for fabricating photothermal conversion hybrid membranes by loading boron nitride (BN) and noble metal nanoparticles (Au or Ag) on the 3D network structured eggshell membrane. This hybrid bio-membrane combines the localized surface plasmonization resonance (LSPR) effects of Au (Ag) and the high thermal conductivity of BN, which led to the hybrid bio-membrane responsive to simulated sunlight irradiation and substantially enhanced photothermal conversion effect. The optimal hybrid bio-membrane achieved a high temperature of 88.3?? after irradiation for 100?s under simulated sunlight. This work provides a strategy for designing advanced photothermal conversion materials for drug release and photothermal therapy applications.
