Efficient synthesis of POSS based amphiphilic nanoparticles via thiol-ene "click" reaction to improve foam stability

New strategy for preparing POSS based amphiphilic nanoparticles was designed by using thiol-ene ?click? reaction to improve SDS foam stability. Contact angle of the synthesized nanoparticles was modified from 68? to 57? by changing the feed ratio. The foam ability and stability were evaluated in the view of nanoparticles concentration, temperature, salinity as well as different types of nanoparticles. The results showed that the foam stability was improved evidently at high salinity as well as low temperature. Even and steady distribution of the synthesized nanoparticle was found at the gas-liquid interface, which was confirmed by SEM as well as elemental mapping images. The distribution mode then increased the film thickness to get stable foam, which was confirmed by microscope. The results demonstrated that the unique amphiphilic structure had the potential to get stable foam and the strategy can also be used to design new foam stabilizer.
