The Common Representation of the European Region Tyrol - South Tyrol - Trentino in cooperation with ICLEI will hold the 21st Breakfast at Sustainability's (B@S) on Wednesday 9 November 2016 in Brussels (Belgium) on the topic of the potential of the circular economy at regional and local level.

This event will interactively explore how regional and local actors can take an active role to achieve the vision of a circular economy model, as outlined in the recently adopted Circular Economy Package and the EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy.

Speakers at the meeting include Herbert Dorfmann, Member of the European Parliament; Joanna Drake, Deputy Director General, DG Environment, European Commission; and Bruno Oberhuber, Director of Energy Tirol, Tyrol, Austria. The elections took place against the backdrop of the historic Habitat III conference, where nations will adopt the New Urban Agenda, the global framework that will guide sustainable urbanisation in the coming decades.

Mayor Sridharan, a lawyer by profession, was elected as the mayor on 13 September 2015, and became an active member of the ICLEI Global Executive Committee, replacing his predecessor Mayor Jurgen Nimpsch. Mayor Sridharan brings 20 years of municipal administrative experience to Bonn and to ICLEI, having worked for the City of Koenigswinter (Germany) as of 1996.

As Mayor of Bonn, Sridharan is now leading a hub of international cooperation. Bonn is home to many United Nations agencies, media outlets and private sector entities. Mayor Sridharan is committed to multi-stakeholder action towards sustainability. The mayor recognises that strong cooperation is essential to building sustainable cities, and will now assume his position as First Vice President of ICLEI, where this principle is fundamental.
