OECD calls for case studies on flooding response

The OECD has released a call for case studies on flood risk arrangements at different levels of government. The call aims to collect practical insights from those who have dealt with the impact of flooding and to draw policy lessons from flooding situations faced across the globe. The call has been issued in relation to the 12 OECD Principles on Water Governance, which were adopted in June 2015.

Respondents are invited to fill in a checklist that asks questions about the current flooding situation in the area, the effect of policy choices, and the governance tools currently in place. Cases submitted should come from locations in which floods are a prevalent issue and should be evidence-based. They can focus on any scale of governance and can be from OECD or non-OECD countries.

Those who submit a case study will be invited to comment on the resulting analysis, which will feed into an OECD Working Paper to be published in 2017. Cases that demonstrate innovative approaches to both implementation and funding will likely be included in the final publication. The deadline for filling in the survey is 2 November 2016.
