"Fast" urban policy is increasingly common as city leaders draw on globally mobile policy models to accelerate the policymaking process. Critics have responded with new types of "fast activism" strategies. Fast activists plan temporary and strategically timed campaigns, use relationally local messaging that jumps between global and local political critiques, and organise ideologically diverse coalitions to mobilise quickly against policy proposals. This was observed in protest campaigns against Olympic bids in Boston (USA) and Hamburg (Germany). Protesters successfully opposed mega"?event planning in both cities by combining all three tactics within a short period of time. The paper presents a comparative study of the Boston and Hamburg protests, drawing from qualitative fieldwork on the campaigns in both cities. The paper contributes by conceptualising an emerging mode of urban opposition, and by evaluating how this type of resistance changes local receptions of fast and mobile urban policy.

"Schnelle" Stadtpolitik wird immer h??ufiger, da vermehrt auf bereits verf??gbare und global mobilisierte Politikmodelle zur??ckgegriffen wird, um lokale politische Entscheidungsprozesse zu beschleunigen. Inzwischen aber formiert sich Widerstand dagegen in Form eines "schnellen Aktivismus". Dieser umfasst im Kern drei Taktiken: tempor??re und strategisch sehr genau terminierte Kampagnen; relational"?lokale Debatten, die globale und lokale Kritik gleichzeitig ??ben; und ideologisch heterogene Koalitionen, um schnell gegen politische Vorschl??ge zu mobilisieren. Dies haben wir in Protestkampagnen gegen die Olympiabewerbungen in Boston (USA) und Hamburg (Deutschland) beobachtet. Protestierende haben sich in beiden St??dten erfolgreich gegen die Mega"?Event"?Planung eingesetzt, indem sie innerhalb k??rzester Zeit alle drei Taktiken kombiniert haben. Der Beitrag basiert auf einer vergleichenden, qualitativen Studie der Proteste von Boston und Hamburg.
