RATP Dev unveils first hydrogen training centre for sustainable transit
Credit: RATP Dev
RATP Dev has announced that its National Training Centre, a pioneering facility for hydrogen-powered bus maintenance, has been inaugurated in La Roche-sur-Yon. Situated on the Atin?a site, this collaborative venture between RATP Dev, CNAM, La Roche-sur-Yon Conurbation and Vend?e Energy Syndicate aims to address sustainability challenges in transportation.?
The centre, a result of the urban transportation public service delegation contract renewal with RATP Dev, focuses exclusively on training technicians in hydrogen-powered vehicle maintenance. It aligns with Atin?a’s broader mission of creating a centre of excellence for renewable energies and sustainable mobility.
Technicians from the RATP Group will undergo a two-part training programme. The first part, maintenance-focused, will utilise modules established through the RATP Dev/CNAM partnership chair. The second part emphasises energy-saving and features an eco-driving module to explore innovative solutions for optimising energy resources.
“This training centre is the perfect example of a project that brings people together. It brings together players from the private and public sectors to advance the common good at a time of ecological transition,” said Jean Castex, Chairman of the RATP Group.
RATP Dev extends partnership to enhance Belgrade’s metro project
“By training technicians in maintaining hydrogen-powered vehicles, we are investing in low-carbon solutions. We commit to provide high-performance, environmentally friendly vehicles; an initiative perfectly in line with our dedication to more sustainable mobility,” said Hiba Far?s, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of RATP Dev.
The Atin?a project aims to transform the former Michelin factory site into a centre of excellence for renewable energies. Already home to France’s first 100% green, 100% local multi-energy station, Atin?a seeks to become a benchmark ecosystem for new mobility and low-carbon energies.
The energy transition in La Roche-sur-Yon is further underscored by RATP Dev‘s subsidiary, CTY, leading the adoption of green energies within the impulsion bus network. The public transit fleet is undergoing a substantial energy transition, reflecting a steadfast commitment to environmentally friendly transport modes.
