London bus stop seats manufactured from Scott Bader?s composite materials
Challenge
London has a growing demand for bus stop seats that offer superior durability, aesthetics and comfort. With over 30 years of partnership and many successful projects completed, Scott Bader and Quality Mouldings faced the challenge of developing bus stop seats that could withstand harsh environmental conditions while providing a pleasant seating experience for commuters.
Solution
Scott Bader and Quality Mouldings leveraged their expertise in composite materials and manufacturing to create bus stop seats using a combination of Crystic Resin 2.446PALV with low styrene emissions, Crystic GC 65PA Red with its high gloss finish and various Crestafix bonding pastes for their fast cure and exceptional handling properties.
The unique combination resulted in lightweight high-strength seats with an exceptional red gloss finish.
With their exceptional performance and longevity, these seats are a testament to Scott Bader?s commitment to enabling its customers to provide more effective and sustainable products using innovative polymer solutions.Key advantages
Unmatched durability – The composite seats were crafted using Scott Bader?s high-quality resin known for its excellent strength, low exotherm and fast hardening characteristics. This ensured the seats can withstand harsh environmental conditions without compromising their structural integrity.
Protective gelcoat – Scott Bader?s world renowned Crystic 65PA gelcoat was applied to the surface of the seats, providing an additional layer of protection against fading, scratches, and damage whilst offering an excellent surface finish. This has enhanced the longevity and visual appeal of the seats, even in high-traffic areas.
Bonding pastes ? Crestafix bonding pastes played a crucial role in securely joining the seats. Their exceptional bonding strength and flexibility ?provided a robust connection, ensuring the seats remain in intact under heavy usage.
Enhanced aesthetics ? Scott Bader?s wide range of gelcoats offered a host of colour options, ?allowing transit authorities to choose hues that align with their branding or design schemes. This customisation added a touch of vibrancy to the bus stop environment, creating a more pleasant waiting experience for passengers.
Results
The composite bus stop seats offer commuters a place to sit with exceptional durability, easy on the eye aesthetics and comfort. The seats have proven resistant to wear and fading, significantly reducing maintenance and replacement costs.
With their exceptional performance and longevity, these seats are a testament to Scott Bader?s commitment to enabling its customers to provide more effective and sustainable products using innovative polymer solutions.
