Oman building tire recycling facility

MUSCAT, Oman—Oman is building a major tire recycling facility at Sur Industrial City, a Gulf of Oman industrial estate located 150 kilometers (about 93 miles) southeast of Muscat.

In a statement June 27, Sur said it had signed a $215 million (OMR 83 million) deal with Al Fairuz Projects and Investments to establish rubber powder production plant at the site.

The facility will be developed in an area of 230,000 square meters and will adopt "cutting-edge" tire recycling technologies, said Abdulqadir bin Salim Al Balushi, director general of Sur Industrial City.
