New compostable waste bag range from Cardia Bioplastics
Australia-based Cardia Bioplastics, a subsidiary of SECOS Group Limited, is pleased to announce the launch of its Cardia Bioproducts waste bag range. The new product range includes compostable lunch bags, kitchen tidy bags, various sizes of household waste bags, garden bags, nappy bags and dog waste bags.
Cardia Bioplastics Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Frank Glatz is proud to be launching the new retail range of Cardia Bioproducts. "Our range of compostable bin liners, garden and dog waste bags are the environmentally friendly choice, fully composting within 12 weeks," he said.
With increased consumer demand for high quality environmentally friendly and sustainable products, Cardia's new Bioproducts range of waste bags provides an ideal solution. Food and garden waste are the main sources of organic waste. Currently, most households place organic material, such as food scraps and garden waste, into their co-mingled waste bin. This adds up to a significant amount of material going into landfill that could be better used elsewhere, such as compost for local growers to improve soil fertility.
The new Cardia Compostable bag range enables greater diversion of organic waste from landfills. Diverting organic waste from landfills using compostable waste management bags represents a large business opportunity for Cardia.
As Dr. Glatz said: "As a business, we recognized that diverting organic waste from landfills using compostable bin liners is essential as landfills are filling up. We are seeing rapid growth in the uptake of our Cardia Compostable bags and waste management systems, amongst Councils within Australia and throughout the world. Our retail range of bin liners, garden and dog waste bags now enables businesses and households to also implement environmentally friendly waste management practices. "
Cardia Bioproducts was established in response to the strong global demand for finished sustainable packaging products by companies, retailers, councils and consumers. Mounting consumer pressure and changing legislation, such as plastic bag bans and global warming initiatives, continue to increase demand for compostable and biodegradable polymers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Europe is the dominant market for compostable and biodegradable polymers, followed by North America and then Asia and Australia. Landfill waste disposal and stringent legislation are key market drivers in Europe, whilst in America improving cost competitiveness with petroleum-based products and growing support at the local, state and federal government levels for these products have brought about increased demand.(KL)
