Using circular economy for urban furniture, the example of a LIFE FUTURE Stakeholder
Interested organisations (public authorities, producers, NGOs, academics, etc.) have the possibility to get involved directly in the LIFE FUTURE project and benefit from the project outputs by becoming a stakeholder.
One of them is a company in Valencia, CMPLASTIK, which offers innovative and environmentally friendly solutions to urban furniture following a circular economy philosophy and recycles plastic waste that have been left in the landfills giving them a second life.
This company is developing a lot of projects in the urban furniture and traffic areas, both nationally and internationally, and they are being implemented successfully in various municipalities. For example, interesting benches are to be found in Valencia, at the entrance of the Parque Natural de La Albufera de València (the natural park of Albufera in Valencia) and in the park built in Carlet, a town in Valencia. These benches are made with 20% of rice straw.
The benches, whose design copies the shape of a flag, have a lot of benefits for the environment compared to traditional wooden benches. On the one hand they are made with 100% recycled material and are 100% recyclable; on the other hand their maintenance, like their cost for example, is significantly reduced.
"Our products reduce carbon footprints considerably because we start the process with raw materials which have zero-footprint" explained the head of the Commercial and the Environment Departments of CMPLASTIK Agustín Pons.
The GUF Tool developed by the LIFE FUTURE project will help companies like CMPLASTIK assessing the environmental performances of their product and meet the requirements established by public authorities in public procurement tenders. By being a LIFE FUTURE Stakeholder, CMPLASTIK will have the possibility to participate in the development process of the GUF Tool by providing its feedback. It will also have the opportunity to get trained for using the GUF Tool.
To become a LIFE FUTURE stakeholder, interested organisations just need to fill in and send a letter of support to life-future-project@aimplas.es
