Men who use “Boss Pure” apply themselves with a woody aquatic fragrance inspired by the crash and thunder of falling water. The bottle represents a modern twist on the urban water wall. It has a rugged square shape with flat surfaces and pronounced edges, uniting the transparency of glass with the strength of metal. The glass bottle is crowned with a stopper made from DuPont™ Surlyn® PC2000 resin.

This DuPont polymer provides the familiar benefits of crystalline transparency, which at second glance reveals a silvery base that in no way compromises the planarity of this very thick item. “Besides its good chemical resistance to perfume, Surlyn® guarantees the perceived quality over the course of time and permanently safeguards brand integrity,” adds Michel Decodts, project manager at DuPont Packaging & Industrial Products. “The droplets that settle on the stopper when the perfume is sprayed produce neither finger marks nor streaking on the stopper material, unlike other transparent resins.”

The solid stopper is injection-moulded in one operation by Auriplast (Qualipac Group), based in Aurillac, France. “The solution we offered was to assemble the stopper by clipping the silver-coated ABS base onto the Surlyn® piece," explains Eric Lafargue at Qualipac. “Since no adhesive is used, this method prevents any traces that would negatively impact the transparency of the assembly.” Qualipac also succeeded in controlling the tolerances very precisely despite the different mechanical properties of the two elements, and also achieved a perfect colour match between the metallic parts of the bottle and the stopper.
